The service is an open independent hospital providing 24 hour care and support to those with mental health needs to live safely in a community setting. Our comprehensive rehabilitation model centres on positive experiences and it actively encouraging service users to access community resources and to equip them with daily living skills promoting their ability to live more independently. There is an expectation that people will stay with the service for 18 – 24 months before moving to more independent accommodation.
Our registration with the Care Quality Commission allows the service to admit people who have a primary mental health diagnosis who no longer require their present level of security or an acute admission bed but who do require a high level of care and support to live safely in the community. People who may be detained under the Mental Health Act, under Sections 2, 3, 37, 37/41 and conditional discharges can be admitted.
The hospital has 21 en-suite bedrooms in the main unit and six flatlets at the rear to enable more independent living. In addition there are large communal and activity areas situated on the ground floor.
Our team is made up of Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Psychologist and Psychology Assistants, Consultant Occupational Therapist and our team of qualified Nurses and Support Workers. We are also recruiting a Social Worker to add to this team. This team, with its diverse skills and experience, allows us to take a dynamic approach to Recovery, utilising a range of therapeutic interventions.
Our rehabilitation model focuses on strengths and positive experiences and is aimed at moving each individual from their current levels of support and treatment, to more independent living in the community. We help individuals recognise and manage as much as possible their own mental health needs, including risk factors/relapse signatures in order that they move on either to our on site supported flats or to accommodation in the community with the support of the Community Health Team.
