Service Model

Using the guiding principles of the Recovery Model coupled with a strong care pathway which is then underpinned by the CPA process and multi-disciplinary team care plan Waterloo Manor provides each patient with the opportunity to;

  • Reduce risk factors
  • Engage with self, significant others and services in a safe space
  • Indentify and maximise individual strengths
  • Plan discharge from admission
  • Focus upon patterns of relapse and look towards a safer future

Admission Criteria

All individuals admitted will have a primary mental health diagnosis. Admission criteria also includes the following;

  • Aged 18 – 65 years
  • Female
  • Complex needs including personality disorder and learning disability
  • Detained under the Mental Health Act (both civilian and forensic sections)
  • With or without a forensic history

Active Therapy and Multi-Disciplinary Teamwork

Waterloo Manor has a permanent team consisting of Consultant Psychiatrist, Social Worker, an experienced nursing team, psychology and a dedicated activity/group work team.

We provide assessment and treatment programmes which include the following group work opportunities;

  • Anger management
  • Relapse prevention
  • Drug and alcohol education and risk reduction
  • Anxiety management and relaxation
  • Developing coping skills
  • Empowerment and assertiveness training

Individual interventions are tailored to each individual developed within the assessment and their risk management profiles.

Care Pathway Model

We are an admission and treatment facility with a defined care pathway promoting discharge via an internal hospital structure;

  • Admission is usually managed within the assessment unit which is situated in the main building
  • Once comprehensive assessment is complete and risk reduction established patients may be given the opportunity to progress to a more independent unit within the main building
  • Finally patients progress to a separate four bed unit where there is an opportunity to experience more independent living and daily living skills can be enhanced
