Service Model

The Service is an open community independent hospital providing 24 hour care and support to those with enduring mental health needs who require  longer- term support to maintain and improve their levels of independence.

Admission Criteria

Our registration with the Care Quality Commission allows the service to admit people who have a primary mental health diagnosis who no longer require their present level of security or an acute admission bed but who do require a high level of care and support to live safely in the community. People who may be detained under the Mental Health Act, under Sections 2, 3, 37, 37/41 and conditional discharges can be admitted. We are happy to consider those with significant physical health care needs.

The Hospital has 24 en-suite bedrooms with large communal and activity areas. There is access to a on-site gym and pottery and kiln facilities.

Active Therapy and Multi-Disciplinary Teamwork

  • A person centred multi-disciplinary approach to care and support
  • Reviews focused on individual need and measured outcomes
  • Structured daily living activities
  • Opportunities for education, employment and leisure
  • Psychological assessment and provision of therapies
  • Comprehensive risk management which promotes opportunity

Care Pathway Model

The service embraces the principles of the Recovery Model enabling the progression of each individual from their current levels of support and treatment to more independent living in the Community. The programme offered to each individual promotes their independent living skills, assists them in managing their mental health needs, supports self management of risk and enables them to move on to accommodation in the community with the support of the Community Mental Health Teams.
